Andrew grew up along the Gulf Coast in Mobile, Alabama.

Following graduation from Murphy High School in Mobile, Andrew attended The University of Mississippi on scholarship where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English with a minor in Political Science in 1994.  He was admitted to several academic honor societies as well as being named to the Chancellor's Honor Roll and Dean's Honor Roll.

In 1999, a Juris Doctor degree was conferred upon Andrew upon his matriculation from The University of Mississippi School of Law.  That same year Andrew became licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in the State of Mississippi, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

From 1999-2005, Andrew practiced in North Mississippi with the law firm of Gore, Kilpatrick, Purdie, Metz & Adcock, PLLC, f/k/a Hickman, Goza & Gore, PLLC, where his practice was primarily focused on civil litigation.

In 2005, Andrew relocated to the Mississippi Gulf Coast partnering with longtime friend and tax attorney J. William Williams in forming Williams & McDonald, PLLC, where Andrew's practice expanded to include many transactional matters.

In 2007, Andrew was offered and accepted the position of Vice President/General Counsel with Lindmark Outdoor Advertising, LLC.

In 2009, Andrew returned to private practice by forming his own firm, McDonald Law, PLLC, f/k/a The Law Firm of M. Andrew McDonald, PLLC.

In 2015, Andrew became licensed to practice law in the State of Oklahoma.

In 2019, Andrew became licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.

In 2020, Andrew became licensed to practice law in the State of New Mexico.

Andrew is married to Janea S. McDonald.  They have two children, Emily and Jack, as well as a fox red labrador, Bert.  The McDonald Family lives in Long Beach, Mississippi.
